Az erdőrezervátum egy természetes kialakulású háborítatlan Duna-sziget, spontán szukcessziós ligeterdőkkel, védőzónája a folyó. Az ártéri ligeteredők létfeltételeit biztosító természetes vízjárás ma is hat (elárasztás, iszap- és hordaléklerakódás, zátonyépítés, árvíz, magaspart). Egyes tájidegen fafajok (elsősorban a zöldjuhar) inváziója fenyegető.

"The forest reserve is a naturally formed, undisturbed Danube-island, with spontaneous succession riverine forests; the buffer zone is the river. The natural water flow that ensures the living conditions of riverine woodlands is still affecting (silt deposition, alluvium, building of pointed bars, flood, and levee). The invasion of certain non-native species (principally ashleaf maple) is threatening."
